BEHIND THE BRAND
M.i.A. is a brand that was created by the artist, Michelle Onwurah
Ever since she could think of, Michelle was interested in creating and working with her hands,as a hobby, in solitude. Being creative came naturally to her, so it is not surprising then, that as soon as she decided to become an artist from an early age, she knew - that's it!
Hobby became Passion
Even though she was informed several times from different people that - "Art is a poor man's job", she refused to listen and now, she has her own brand and has done commissions for a vast number of clients
The brand, M.i.A., is still growing and discovering new opportunities, but Michelle believes that to truly succeed, one needs to start from somewhere even if it's the bottom. Michelle splits her time between Watford, UK and Lagos, Nigeria. She produces the majority of her work from her studio in Lagos, Nigeria
